Why Are Professional AI Competencies Necessary?
The EU AI Act requires providers and deployers to take measures to ensure an appropriate level of AI literacy among the people operating or using Artificial Intelligence systems on their behalf, taking into account their knowledge, experience, training, and context of use.
In addition, for High-Risk AI systems, Human Oversight must be assigned to individuals with the necessary competence, training, and authority to understand the system, interpret its outputs, detect anomalies, and intervene when required.
A structured assessment of these competencies enables organizations to identify gaps, define role-based development pathways, and retain documentary evidence of the capabilities that have been assessed and certified.
Assessment Methodology
Identification of Roles and Responsibilities
We identify which professionals use, manage, supervise, or make decisions related to AI systems within the organization. Definition of the Required Competency Level
We determine the competencies required according to each role, level of responsibility, context of use, and exposure to risks associated with AI systems. Professional Competency Assessment
We validate knowledge and professional judgement through Aicertia’s certification frameworks, with Essentials, Advanced, and Expert pathways adapted to different profiles. Human Oversight in High-Risk AI Systems
Where applicable, we assess the competencies required to understand the system’s capabilities and limitations, interpret its outputs, and exercise effective Human Oversight. Credential Registration and Traceability
We document the certifications obtained, their level, credential holder, and verification ID to support the organization’s internal competency management.
